Yield displacement of slender cantilever RC walls as a function of the seismic demand features

نویسندگان

چکیده

The yield displacement is a relevant parameter to design slender cantilever RC walls under seismic actions. If the wall expected undergo inelastic excursions, then used estimate ductility demands, which are in turn boundary elements (confinement reinforcing). In last years, expressions have been proposed several studies; many of them resorting models with concentrated inelasticity. Results obtained these could be unrepresentative phenomenon studied, due assumption that has elastic behaviour and constant stiffness above critical section; evidence shows flexural varies during dynamic response. Independently model used, most studies consider pushover analysis different lateral load patterns (e.g. triangular or uniform), assuming nature demand. this work, parametric study for presented. results were from nonlinear response history analyses (NRHA) set walls, representative real buildings. To carry out NRHA, natural artificial records features used. Additionally, aspect ratio, height, thickness longitudinal reinforcement considered; modelled unidirectional fibres. final discussion focused on influence higher mode effects its variability, order provide useful simple recommendations.

Estimation of Yield Curvature for Direct Displacement-based Seismic Design of RC Columns

Significant research efforts have been devoted in recent years to the development of displacement-based seismic design methodologies, recognizing the shortcomings of traditional, code-specified force-based design procedures. Recent advances in direct displacement-based seismic design of columns rely on the estimates of yield curvature for the determination of seismic design forces to satisfy th...

An Estimate of the Yield Displacement of Coupled Walls for Seismic Design

A formula to estimate the yield displacement observed in the pushover analysis of coupled wall lateral force-resisting systems is presented. The estimate is based on the results of an analytical study of coupled walls ranging from 8 to 20 stories in height, with varied amounts of reinforcement in the reinforced concrete coupling beams and walls, subjected to first-mode pushover analysis. An exa...

Seismic behaviour and analysis of U-shaped RC walls

In many countries of moderate to high seismicity, reinforced concrete (RC) core walls are used as lateral bracing systems in midto high-rise buildings where they typically accommodate lift shafts or stair cases. Unlike planar walls which provide horizontal strength and stiffness mainly in the in-plane direction of the wall, core walls provide bidirectional strength and stiffness. This feature c...
